Juan Martin del Potro will not defend his title this year. Tommy Haas is the top-seed and the one to beat this week since he has been playing well over the last two months. It could be a good opportunity for the German to pick up another title this year. Mardy Fish is the second-seed and could give the German trouble because the American is best on the hard surfaces.

Marat Safin rounds out the seeded players as the eighth seed. Let's hope he does well in his final LA appearance.
