Marat Safin was killing Jurgen Melzer when I left the stadium after the first set on Wednesday. Somehow the Russian managed to lose the match 6-1 4-6 3-6 4-6 and exits the US Open for the final time, as he retires this year. In a strange, masochistic way, I am going to miss the big, cranky Russian giving me headaches like these.
