Novak Djokovic started out slow today but managed to turn it around. In the end, he was able to get passed Julien Benneteau 6-7(8) 7-6(1) 6-2 6-4. Hopefully, the Serb will play his way into the tournament if he wants to advance deep into the second week. He is definitely capable of turning it on, and I hope he does. Hats off to Benneteau who really played his heart out and banged himself up in the process.

For Djokovic, his next opponent will be current World No. 106 Simon Greul from Germany. The two players have never met in ATP competition or a grand slam.
