Jeremy Chardy bested Lu 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4 in his Montreal debut yesterday. Lu gave the Frenchman some trouble in the first set, and Chardy aided matters with his errors. Fortunately for Chardy, he was able to get his act together and close out the match for the win.

The Frenchman now advances to play Andy Murray in the second round today. Chardy will really have his hands full with the Scotsman. The two players have never met in ATP competition.
